Decor Blinds has manufactured window furnishings in Queensland since 1985. Every shutter, blind and screen we fit across the Moreton Bay region is made to measure in our own factory at Seventeen Mile Rocks, rather than ordered in from overseas and assembled locally.
The region has two very different kinds of home. Redcliffe, Scarborough and Woody Point sit on the water and get salt and wind. North Lakes, Mango Hill and Griffin are new estates with big glass and small blocks. We quote them differently, and the free in-home measure is where that gets worked out.
It is the same service we run across Brisbane. Someone comes to the property, looks at the aspect and exposure, and tells you what will and will not last in that position.
The peninsula and the new estates fail blinds in different ways. On the water it is salt and wind. In the estates it is heat through large west-facing glass and the neighbour's window four metres away.
Redcliffe, Scarborough, Woody Point, Margate and Clontarf homes near the water get salt on fixings, chains, brackets and powder coating long before it touches fabric. On exposed aspects we select corrosion-resistant componentry and say so on the quote.
Standard outdoor blinds catch wind at the edges and tear out of their fixings. ZipScreen locks the fabric into side channels so there is no free edge, which is why it is what we specify for bayside decks and for exposed alfresco areas anywhere on the peninsula. Optional wind sensors retract the blind before a squall does it for you.
North Lakes, Mango Hill, Griffin, Murrumba Downs and the newer parts of Caboolture are full of homes with wide sliding doors and west-facing living rooms. Thermalite shutters insulate around three times better than timber, and honeycomb blinds trap air in their cells. Sunscreen roller blinds keep the outlook while cutting glare.
In a new estate the next house is close. Dual roller blinds give a sunscreen for the day and a blockout for the night on one bracket, and shutters let you tilt the louvres for light without a line of sight into the room.
The most-asked-for product we make. Sunscreen fabrics hold the view and cut glare; blockout suits bedrooms and media rooms. Dual-roller gives you both on one bracket. Over 3,000 fabric colours, all PVC-free and recyclable.

No. The in-home measure and quote is free across the Moreton Bay region, the same as Brisbane. Our factory is at Seventeen Mile Rocks and our install teams cover from Kallangur up to Bribie Island.
Manufacturing runs about 15 to 20 business days from approval, roughly four weeks door to door including measure and install. We make everything in our own Brisbane factory, so we are not waiting on shipping.
It can, and it is the main reason bayside window furnishings fail early. Salt attacks fixings, chains and powder coating before it affects fabric. Near the water we specify corrosion-resistant hardware and fabrics engineered to resist mould and fade, and we will tell you at the quote which products we would not recommend for your aspect.
