Your Thermalite shutters are a handmade window and door covering, and should be handled with care to keep their presentation for years to come.
Monthly maintenance
- Dust with a soft dry duster.
- Clean any fingerprints or marks with a damp cloth and, if necessary, a mild detergent.
- DO NOT use any harsh chemicals or abrasives.
- DO NOT use any ammonia-based cleaners.
- Spray shutter hardware regularly with a silicone spray.
- External shutters should be hosed down regularly and washed with a mild soap solution to remove salt and air pollutants. Do not use a high-pressure hose.
If your shutters are in an area that collects more than normal dust, are subject to coastal air, or are installed externally, clean them more frequently than monthly.
Stainless steel hinges and screws must be used in coastal areas or the warranty is void.
How to open your shutters
Use two hands to open and close. Place one hand a few blades above the other and open in unison to the desired position. Never try to open with one hand, as it will place a strain on the exclusive Ultra Clear control.
How to close your shutters
Again, place two hands on the blades — one higher and one lower — and firmly close the blades together. This ensures an even closure for the best light control and privacy.
