Decor Blinds has manufactured window furnishings in Queensland since 1985. Every shutter, blind and screen we fit in the Redlands is made to measure in our own factory at Seventeen Mile Rocks, on the other side of Brisbane, rather than ordered in from overseas and assembled locally.
The Redlands runs from established suburbs like Capalaba, Alexandra Hills and Birkdale down to the bay at Cleveland, Victoria Point and Redland Bay. The bayside homes get salt and afternoon storms off the water. The inland suburbs mostly fight western heat. The free in-home measure is where we work out which you have.
It is the same service we run across Brisbane. Someone comes to the property, looks at the aspect and exposure, and tells you what will and will not last in that position.
Bayside and inland Redlands homes fail blinds differently. Near the water it is salt, wind and glare off the bay. Further in it is heat through west-facing glass and humidity that warps timber.
Cleveland, Victoria Point, Redland Bay, Wellington Point and Ormiston homes near the water get salt on fixings, chains, brackets and powder coating long before it touches fabric. On exposed aspects we select corrosion-resistant componentry and say so on the quote.
Homes facing Moreton Bay take reflected light from below as well as sun from above. Sunscreen roller blinds that block up to 95% of UV keep the view of the bay while cutting the glare, which is usually the reason someone bought the position in the first place.
Standard outdoor blinds catch wind at the edges and tear out of their fixings. ZipScreen locks the fabric into side channels so there is no free edge, which is why it is the system we specify for bayside decks and for exposed alfresco areas across the Redlands.
Away from the water the afternoon sun is the problem. Thermalite shutters insulate around three times better than timber and will not warp in humidity, and honeycomb blinds trap air in their cells. Both cut what the air conditioner has to fight.

No. The in-home measure and quote is free across the Redlands, the same as Brisbane. Our factory is at Seventeen Mile Rocks and our install teams cover from Capalaba to Redland Bay.
Manufacturing runs about 15 to 20 business days from approval, roughly four weeks door to door including measure and install. We make everything in our own Brisbane factory, so we are not waiting on shipping.
It can, and it is the main reason bayside window furnishings fail early. Salt attacks fixings, chains and powder coating before it affects fabric. Near the water we specify corrosion-resistant hardware and fabrics engineered to resist mould and fade, and we will tell you at the quote which products we would not recommend for your aspect.
