Window shutters for every room
Internal plantation shutters sit inside the window frame and tilt to control light and privacy. They suit bedrooms, living areas, bathrooms and kitchens, and each one is manufactured to the window it covers.
We make them from Thermalite, a dense, non-toxic polymer with the warmth and look of timber. It is water resistant and fire retardant, so it goes in wet areas, and it will not crack, warp, shrink or discolour in a hot west-facing window.

Internal shutter styles
Every shutter is manufactured to the opening it covers, so the style is chosen room by room rather than for the whole house.
Fixed panels
The panel stays in place and only the louvres move. The simplest option and the one we fit most often to standard windows, where nothing needs to open.
Hinged
Panels swing open on a hinge like a cupboard door. Useful where you need full access to the window, for cleaning or for a servery opening.
Sliding
Panels run on a track, so nothing swings into the room. This is the option for sliding doors, stackers and wide openings where floor space matters.
Bi-fold
Panels fold back on themselves and clear the opening almost completely. Suited to patio doors and any opening you want to use as a real doorway.

Yes. Thermalite is water resistant, so it is an excellent option for bathrooms, laundries and kitchens where moisture and humidity are a consideration.
Do shutters block out light?expand_more
When fully closed, shutters block most light, though small gaps between louvres and stiles mean they do not create a complete blackout. Many people pair shutters with Honeycomb blinds at the back if full darkness is needed.
